Ideenlabor 2022

Welcome to the Lab of Ideas 2022!

Welcome to the Lab of Ideas 2022!

This is where we question, experiment and develop big and small ideas for the future of our coexistence. These ideas should not only offer solutions for a more sustainable and liveable future for everyone, but also integrate aesthetics – all in the spirit of the New European Bauhaus (NEB). In order to reach the heart of society and to be truly inclusive, they must be appealing and accessible to everyone.

As the historical model for the NEB, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is the ideal location for the Lab of Ideas 2022. This is where individuals explore and innovate, inspired by history and curious about the future. A diverse and international group of idea developers who want to make a difference when it comes to sustainability and social responsibility.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is a crucial link for the NEB between the region of Thuringia and its stakeholders, as well as national and international partners. This is where diverse perspectives, interdisciplinarity, open-mindedness towards the unconventional, the courage to think big, and a healthy dose of pragmatism meet to transform ideas into concrete innovation. In order to contribute to the NEW, the Lab of Ideas 2022 aims to inject life into the Green New Deal.

The Lab of Ideas 2022 is set to take place as a side event during the Festival of the New European Bauhaus. Pparticipation is free of charge, registration below is requested.

NEB FESTIVAL

Creating a sustainable future together

More on the NEB Festival

1. Form Follows Environment

The Lab of Ideas 2022 takes its inspiration from two concepts from nature: cycles and rhizomes.

Cycles (in particular cyclical economies) are the most sustainable form of resource use and provide promising solutions to challenges such as energy and waste management.

Rhizomes are root networks that offer a horizontal network to exchange essentials and develop new ideas through upward growth. This applies specifically to networking and bringing initiatives and projects to light that contribute to making Europe sustainable, fair and multifaceted today and in the future.

2. Glo-cal Interplay

The Lab of Ideas 2022 moves across borders through European projects and regional initiatives that aim to make tangible changes in the living environment of local residents. This makes tackling global challenges, such as climate change or social injustice, more feasible and solutions can be quickly and locally implemented. At the same time, it also increases EU awareness of local issues.

3. Sustainable, Appealing, for Everyone

Focussing on a wide range of solutions is particularly important, as is the goal of creating a more sustainable future. In order to reach the heart of society and to be truly inclusive, solutions must be appealing and accessible to everyone. We are engaging in this exchange through participatory, accessible formats, in which discussion, experimentation and development take place.

4. Multidisciplinary Thinking Space

The Lab of Ideas 2022 is not just a creative workshop — it is also a multidisciplinary network that reflects the diversity of our society. It operates as a gateway that links science, culture, business and civil society — because it is only through a truly interdisciplinary connection that ideas can evolve into significant solutions.

workshops 360° Education: Virtual On-Site Learning

Learning opportunities using 360° models

360° technology makes creating panoramic images easy; these images can then be assembled into 360° models and enhanced with additional media, such as text or video. These 360° models foster demonstrative learning. This workshop will introduce the »Plattform 360° Bildung«, which hosts 360° models of various disciplines, such as environmental engineering. This workshop will address the platform’s future development possibilities.

supporting program Voices of the City

on-site survey about living environments, sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion

Favourite places, environmental awareness, participation and accessibility…With these things in mind, we will be asking for your thoughts and opinions from Weimar’s pedestrian zone. Our goal is to establish a comprehensive assessment based on ten questions. This will be made into an exhibit that will be presented at the Audimax. You can find us at the stand with the cargo bike at Theaterplatz. We look forward to hearing your opinions!

workshops Touch, feel and listen, how to talk about ...?

A workshop on sharpening the senses and spatial orientation

How important is our immediate sensory perception for positioning ourselves in space and time? How should we learn to verbally articulate this? What do I hear when I can’t see? And how does thought relate to physical experience? In this workshopby the Real.Sense.Lab, we will be observing our own habits of perception in an artistic-performative process, learn about spatial appropriation techniques and listen and experience during a walk, among other things.

participatory and mobility-focussed planning approach concentrated on Weimar

How can we successfully transform transportation in Weimar? These questions, among others, will be brought up and discussed in the Sustainable Mobility workshop.

With Lena Klopfstein and Julius Uhlmann

Walking talk

Intensive and ongoing encounters with and about nature strongly influenced the development of the historic Bauhaus. Following a short lecture, we will explore these aspects from a phenomenological perspective during a walk through the Park an der Ilm. A joint discussion will address the potential of this space as a model and demonstration and learning space for future projects from the new ecological Bauhaus.

open textile workshop

What if you could give your old garment a new function?

In our workshop “Turn old into new!” we want to help you clean out your wardrobe and create new things. Bring along any old clothes and textile remnants that you can find at home. Together we will then think about how we can turn your old clothes into something new. Whether it becomes a cushion, a bag or a hat is entirely up to you. Along the way, you will learn a lot about the textile industry and its impact on our environment, and also how you can live more sustainably at home.
